lessons from my 20s
one day at a time, always.
that person you thought would call you back, never did.
but instead you made some friends for life (hopefully).
you got a degree, and you're unsure if it's only good on paper
but getting it done feels like a mammoth accomplishment at the moment.
don't wait for life to happen,
embrace whatever comes your way.
you've spent a lot of time in front of a screen,
and you hardly have anything to show for it.
but still--
read more books,
watch more movies,
cry at random songs,
spread good vibes,
don't be a salty nancy.
take care of your parents,
they're getting older,
and don't feel guilty for not being able to give them a comfortable life.
laugh easily,
love hard,
love good,
fearlessly,
you've got dreams,
chase them.
write that god damn book already.
go to italy...even if it's for a day...
please...it has been your dream since you were 16.
make good with the life you have,
don't lament on the setbacks--
you're stronger because of them.
people come, people go,
don't take it to heart
when everyone doesn't have your best interest in mind.
take care of your health,
you've got to live a long life.
lose that weight,
lose that weight,
lose that weight.
you'll be grateful in a couple years.
don't take moments for granted.
be grateful,
always.
and don't forget to dance like no one's watching.
you'll be old and dying one day,
make sure that day--
you'll be going out with a smile on your deathbed.
no regrets,
only good vibes.
