Women in My Life
The women in my life—
Have paved a path through which I try to navigate.
Aama always talks about how her life could have been
If she had gone to
school,
She’s grateful to have seen all of her children grow up,
Also travelled half way across the world to see her great
grandchildren.
Mamu is a boss who has a never say no attitude,
Always a steady anchor in our tumultuous lives.
Aunty works hard every day and does it so gracefully,
She has navigated both motherhood and work life with such
effortlessness.
One of my sisters recently became a mother—
Another one hiked to Everest Base Camp,
One refuses to live
life under anybody else’s terms.
My younger sister is remarkably cool,
Talking about the youngest-- well no one can mess with her.
The women in my life
Make me feel empowered,
Their life experiences serving as life lessons,
They give me courage to always try my hardest,
And try to live life fearlessly as they have done.
