devote

a wife is devoted to her husband,

a child to their parents,

parents to children,

a student is devoted to a guru,

and everyone is devoted to god.

even demon kings and demons worshipped gods--

it is written in ancient texts.

the act of devotion is so integral

to the fabric of our society

that 

showing devotion is considered a high form of respect.

sewa is dharma,

and nirvana is what we all seek to attain.

in this world and the next--

we seek multitudes,

hoping to have an easier life 

in our next birth

if not in here and now.

the key to being fulfilled

is to have faith in the lives we lead,

but what hollow lives we lead

where none seems to matter

and we matter to no one?

in a world seeking such godly countenance,

our generation stand lost and confused--

far away from our ancestors' wisdom,

and further still from the ethos of civilized world

we hope to emulate today.
